Truck VS. Deer

I was with One of my friends just driving around some back roads in Vermont, and we were stopped on the side of a Dirt Road looking for my friends cell phone in his truck that we thought we had lost.  Right then we saw a deer crossing the road, so we hammered down, got going about 55 mph.  The deer was off the side of the road already so we didn’t think we were going to get it, but it turns out that it cut right back into the  road in front of us.  We hit the deer at a good solid 55 mph, the head hit the grill of the Toyota truck, smashing out a good third of it.  The deer was hit and the horns shattered on impact.  We also left quite the dent in the bumper about 6″.  Then it unfortunately we ran over it with two tires, surprisingly we lost no meat, which is a bonus.  The moral here, you deer better watch out for them power Yota’s.

The Gear

url1.jpeg    The hunting gear is one of the most vital parts of hunting, because when you are hunting your going to want to be comfortable when you are either sitting or doing a drive.  I found out the hard way that you need layers, if you get cold put another layer on if you get hot take one or multiple layers off.  Then you’ve always got to have some basic survival stuff, you don’t need much. Some things that are handy in the woods, are things like lighter, can of Sterno (just to warm up real slightly) fire kindling  (little bit of birch bark).  Just a few little things that you carry with you along with your gear could potentially save your life in the end.  You also should carry some really basic first aid stuff.  Like band-aids, gauze, iodine, just anything that u might need to use in first aid situations.  And if you take medication always pack two days worth with you when you go hunting.

My Equipment

ammoFor bow hunting I use a Jennings Buck master 2000. With that bow i shoot the good American cheap arrows, I think they shoot just as good as any others, and the broad heads that I have are just some plain and simple, and they seem to work just fine. For my rifle hunting its time to upgrade. Because right now I am using a complete youth edition .243 and its a great gun just to small for me. Now the bullets that i shoot through this gun are just absolutely amazing, they are 95 grain silver tip winchester shells, and they shoot fast and pack a punch. (image from Outdoor Superstore)

    Long Range Hunting

I personally love bow hunting but there is something about trying to hit a deer three hundred plus yard, and when you can actually pull that off its such a great achievement. Ive only shot target at that far, but it still is a real achievement to hit that target from that far away. I can imagine what it would be like to shoot one from a long range like that. Then the further away the more of an achievement it is.

    How I Hunt

    Big Buck

Personally, I think bow hunting is a thrill and a half. You can’t beat it, the thrill you get from having a deer in thirty yards or less, with you heart pounding out of your chest, the adrenaline rushing through your body. Then the chance arrives, when you start to draw back, thinking that at any second that deer could look at you, then heres your chance the shot. Now that right there is one of the many reasons i love to hunt.(Elderado.net)
